A warm welcome to Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College and General Hospital (LTMMC & GH), a premier medical institution of India! Today, LTMMC & GH stands with pride as a center of academic excellence imparting outstanding medical education as well as an institute providing quality care to patients with the motto of “Service through Excellence”.

We started as a fifty bedded hospital and a single OPD, in the empty military barracks after the World War II, as the “Indian Military Hospital” on 24th April 1947. In 1950, our institution was rightly named after a beloved founder of Independent India: Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak. Over the years, our hospital has grown by leaps and bounds to a 1462 bedded hospital. Currently with 300 senior faculty members and 550 postgraduate students, the back bone of the institution, we attend to around 18 lakh OPD patients and more than 82,000 indoor patients every year.

The Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College was started on 30th November 1964 with the first batch of 60 students. The annual intake of MBBS students increased to 100 in the year 1990, and we are happy to state that MCI has permitted the intake capacity to be increased to 150 seats from 2016. We are proud to conduct broad specialty and 8 super specialty courses with a total of 213 post graduate and 29 Super Specialty seats annually.
